Is there a cost to apply for our marriage license?

Yes, there is a fee of $81.00 for the marriage license and the downtown office accepts payment in the form of Visa, MasterCard, Discover, cash or money order. Money orders can be made payable to John F. Warren, Dallas County Clerk.

Will the marriage license expire?

Your marriage license will be valid for 90 days from the issue date that appears on the license (the issue date will be the third day following application - so you will have to wait for 72-hours before your officiant can perform your elopement ceremony). Once the certificate is signed by you, your spouse, a witness, and your officiant, it can be mailed back to the Dallas County Clerk who will then validate the marriage license and issue you your formal certificate or marriage.
